Creating Forms in HubSpot (2025)
Here's a step by step guide to creating basic forms in HubSpot using their 2025 Form Builder:
- Navigate to Forms: Head to Marketing on the left sidebar and select Forms. This is where you'll manage all your forms—whether creating new ones or editing existing ones. To get started, click the Create Form button in the top right corner.
- Choose Your Form Editor: When you click Create Form, you’ll have two options: the Form Editor or the legacy editor. Choose the Form Editor for an easier experience. HubSpot offers templates to get you started. If you’re new to forms, choose a standard template like Contact Us for this guide.
- Customize Your Form: HubSpot forms use drag-and-drop to easily add new fields. Click the + button, and go to Properties, search for the field (like "Company Name"), and drag it onto your form!
- Edit Your Form Fields: If you need to tweak a field, hover over it and click the pencil icon to edit the details. For example, you might want to make Company Name a mandatory field to ensure you collect that information. Simply click on the field and toggle the option to make it required.
- Add Captcha for Security: To stop spam, add a Captcha to your form. Go to Add - other, find Captcha under Security and Privacy, and add it to your form.
- Configure Form Options: Now, let's set up your form options. Click the settings gear icon. From settings, go to General. Here, you can choose the lifecycle stage for contacts who fill out your form. HubSpot recommends Lead by default, so anyone who fills it out is marked as a lead. You can also choose to automatically create new contacts from unknown email addresses—this makes sure no contact slips through the cracks!
- Set Up Submission Notifications: To get notified when your form is submitted, go to Submission Settings and enter the email addresses of those you want to notify.
- Double-Check Language and Region Settings: Double-check that your form's language and region settings are correct before moving on. This ensures your form looks good for your target audience. Give your form a unique name to make it easy to find later, especially if you're using it in a specific campaign.
- Customize Form Appearance (Optional): If you have time and want to make your form pop, head to the Style tab. You can customize everything from the button color to the fonts and background. Get creative and match your form’s look to your brand’s style.
- Preview and Publish Your Form: Before publishing, always preview your form to make sure everything looks good. HubSpot will alert you if anything’s missing or wrong. For example, don’t forget to add a data privacy field—it’s important for compliance. Once you’re happy with your form, click Update to save your changes.
- Share Your Form: Now it’s time to share your form with the world! HubSpot gives you three main options for sharing:
- Embed on Your Website: If you’re using HubSpot CMS, you can embed the form directly.
- Embed Code: For external websites not hosted on HubSpot, use an embedded code.
- Share a Link: Share a direct link to your form, and anyone with the link can access it.
